Away-day ride to Stoke Bruerne

Sunday, 23 April 2023 - 10:30am

NB there will be a shorter option of about 48k - route to be decided on the day

A moderately hilly, longer ride via some of the lesser travelled Northamptonshire lanes to Stoke Bruerne canal heritage centre. Coffee at start, so NO coffee stop but we will stop for snacks etc en route both ways as required – so bring some.

Ride report

Coffee and cake at Lodge Cottage before we set off. We had lovely warm, sunny weather for the ride out to Stoke Bruerne. Four riders took a shorter option to return at Marston St Laurence (church photo) leaving three to go on to late lunch at Stoke Bruerne canal heritage centre.  At Newbottle we saw some heritage breed cattle and calves. We got lucky with the weather as predicted heavy rain only started five miles from home where more tea and cake were welcome!
