CTC Oxford City 90th anniversary ride with anniversary tea

Sunday, 21 September 2014 - 9:30am

Tea and cakes 3pm Standlake Village Hall

Ride report

The prospect of free tea and cakes, plus the forecast of fine weather proved irresistible for 14 of our riders who set off from Broad Street, with a further 2 joining at coffee and 3 more meeting us for tea at Standlake Village Hall.
Founded in 1878, The CTC was at first called “The Bicycle Touring Club”. Its official name now is “CTC, the national cycling charity”. The earliest record we have (but more research still to do) is that the Oxford District Association started life on 5th June 1924. At some point – possibly in the 80s – the club we know as CTC Oxford City emerged as an entity in its own right.
And here we are, on Sunday 21st September 2014, carrying on the tradition of tea, cakes and conversation (see photos).
