Half-day ride to Waterperry
Sunday, 8 March 2020 - 9:30am
Ride or Event Navigation
A slightly longer than usual short ride, this month, but mostly flat: a standard circuit of Otmoor, going gently via Islip, Charlton, Murcott, Oakley, Worminghall and Waterperry with a stop for coffee at Waterperry Gardens. |
Ride report
Despite a not altogether favourable weather forecast, including blustery showers and a steady south-west breeze, eleven cyclists attended Sunday’s half-day ride, a circuit of Otmoor. In the event, the rain held off until after mid-day and amounted to no more than a single light shower at Horspath as we neared home, while for much of the outward journey beyond Islip the wind had settled in pleasantly behind, bringing ease and quiet, some of it in sunshine. We made the approach to Worminghall through Horton cum Studley, rather than by the published route via Oakley which is more exposed, but as things turned out the wind never really threatened to be a problem. Refreshment was taken at Waterperry Gardens.
