New Year's Day ride and lunch

Sunday, 1 January 2023 - 10:15am

Please book as usual for lunch, but only 12 spaces available.

Starting the New Year as we mean to continue – on our bikes. This time, just a short cycle ride followed by lunch at Sue and Niall’s house. Baked potatoes with a selection of fillings, salads and drinks will be provided. Any contributions for desserts, or drinks would be very welcome, though not essential. Donations to Alzheimer’s Research UK. We can seat 14, so 12 spaces bookable. Please book on the website as usual, but check you are not number 13 or higher!

Ride report

It was lovely weather for New Years Day. Sunny, not too cold and only a bit of headwind; such a contrast to the heavy rain of the day before. Ten people gathered at our house bringing contributions for dessert which were much appreciated. Eleven riders, including myself, set off for a short ride of 22 miles on a modified Otmoor Loop before returning for lunch. We had a very sociable meal of baked potatoes, chillies and salads and then a selection of puddings.
Donations towards Alzheimer’s Research were extremely generous and £180 was raised.
