Ride report

The ride was changed in the end to avoid the Cotswold Guy cafe as they didn’t have any gluten free bread and it was really quite expensive – they do do the best sausage rolls in the world according to David Beckham though! So, with two other options nearby being temporarily or permanently closed we opted for a coffee stop at the Deli in Charlbury which was nice and then we went on to try and get into a cafe in Woodstock. But the ones we tried were all either full or not open so on we went again to find room for us at Yarnton Garden Centre eventually. Saturday rides have a very different feel to our usual Sunday rides – the traffic is heavier earlier when we are starting our ride but seemed quieter by the end. We had a visitor out with us too. A guy called William from Newcastle who was visting Oxford for a conference the day
before and staying on and he hoped joining a group ride was the best way to see the country round this way. Can’t argue with that – the weather was freezing but brilliantly sunny all day meaning that our countryside was at its most stunning. William was quite a bit faster than us but he didn’t seem to mind coming on ‘a bimble’ ride as his local club call them, I had warned him! It was a nice day out which was not as originally planned but the sunshine made it a very pretty ride regardless. I have had a lovely message since the ride from William saying: Thank you for welcoming me in your club. I was in good company to taste the roads around Oxford. I had a brilliant day.
