Sunday ride to Abingdon and Chalgrove

Ride report
Perfect riding weather and perfect weather for a beer garden lunch, which lasted rather longer than usual. And why not, since it was only another 20km back to Oxford? A cautionary tale: see photo for what can happen to a wheel rim. The top 2-3mm simply peeled away, releasing a section of the tyre and with it the inner tube. No “get you home” quick fix possible for this. As I write this, a number of our riders will be checking their rims (including me – see 2 photos of a CTC recommended improvised tool) and I have written this article for our website: http://ctcoxfordcity.org.uk/news/wheel-rims
