Sunday ride to Abingdon and Charney Bassett

Sunday, 30 April 2017 - 9:30am

This is ride is led by Isis (Rides for Women) as far as coffee. It is intended for faster Isis riders.

Ride report

Sixteen from City (9 women, 7 men we are pleased to announce, bucking the national trend on Cycling UK rides) and a further 10 or so from Isis meant we had to split into 2 groups. We were joined by 2 riders from Midweek who advised us to avoid some rough track on the way to lunch. Since none of us knew the track, we took the advice and arrived at lunch a little earlier than planned. The climb up Tumbledown Hill is always a challenge, mainly because the gentle slope at the start tempts you to go too hard early on, leaving nothing for the steeper last third.
