Sunday ride to Abingdon and Wallingford
Sunday, 13 June 2021 - 9:30am
Ride or Event Navigation
To Abingdon via Cumnor then on to Wallingford. A chance to find somewhere to park if you are doing our sister club’s Century Ride on July 4th. Then back home via Ewelme, Cuxham and Great Milton.
Ride report
A lovely warm and sunny day as we left Oxford via Cumnor Hill picking up Carmel near the Volvo garage and downhill all the way to Abingdon Market Square for coffee at our own choice of venue where we were joined by Phil, fresh from his lie-in. A relatively short journey to lunch, then via National Cycle Route 5 to Didcot and on though half a dozen South Oxfordshire villages to Wallingford for a picnic in the Kinecroft under the shade of a very big tree. Onward via Ewelme, Cuxham and under the M40 for a few miles on the almost deserted old A40, stopping to take on water in Tetsworth – a reminder that we need to drink more and take plenty of water with us on hot and sunny days! Finally home though the continuingly spectacular countryside around Great Milton and Cuddesdon before “flying” down the big hill into Horspath. A lovely day out enjoyed by all!
