Sunday ride to Aston

Sunday, 1 November 2020 - 9:30am

A mostly flat ride with a few hills now and again to even our sprocket wear, and a few diversions into quiet villages.

Ride report

The weather was forecast to be windy and showery. That, along with some members now being under tier 2 restrictions, combined to reduce the numbers from 6 to 4. We rode to Aston via Eynsham and Sutton. Though windy, it wasn’t too gusty. The threatened showers held off all day, leaving a grey day with some autumnal colour surviving the recent winds.

We took coffee at Aston Pottery, where they managed efficiently despite Covid restrictions.

The ride back was a bit swifter, having a tail wind. We included the bridleway from Hinton Waldrist to Longworth (quite a good surface) which made a nice change from our normal route in from Pusey.

In all probability, this was the last ride for at least a month, as next weekend will have new national lockdown restrictions in place.
