Sunday ride to Aston and Burford

Sunday, 18 August 2019 - 9:30am

Lunch must be pre-booked at this pub. See below map for menu - there is also a gluten free menu. When you have chosen, please email daviddaisygreen@gmail.com with your choice.
Deadline Friday 16 August 6pm

Up Cumnor hill to get the heart pumping and avoiding the dreaded Eynsham road. Gentle quiet roads as we head to coffee before continuing west as we go hunting pre-booked pies.

Ride report

The heavy downpour at the start was enough to make us regret leaving the overshoes at home and made us wonder whether we were suitably waterproofed. Most of our usual half-day riders took one look at the dark skies and decided to stay at home. But having pre-booked our lunches at The Royal Oak in Burford, 11 riders felt obliged to start. And we were rewarded by a blue sky that soon appeared almost miraculously, seemingly from nowhere, leaving a further 90k of sunshine with just a few drops here and there.
