Sunday ride to Aston and Faringdon

Sunday, 25 February 2018 - 9:30am

Ride to coffee led by Isis Rides for Women. A flat ride though the Thames Valley to coffee, with the Col de Faringdon on the way into Faringdon providing the only notable hill of the day. A route parallel to the A 420 brings us back into the west end of Oxford.

Ride report

On this last Sunday of winter, the spring sunshine was no match for the bitterly cold wind, blowing from the north east. But we were riding west for the first half of the ride and were lulled into a false sense of security, barely having to pedal to maintain a good pace. Riding back from lunch, now into the face of the wind, was a different matter. Twenty one members defied the weather forecast, with its promise of 1 degree at the start, “feeling like” minus 6 and 14 completed the full day ride, beneath a cloudless blue cold sky.
