Sunday ride to Benson and Ardington

Sunday, 8 October 2017 - 9:30am

A few short climbs out of Oxford on the way to Benson for coffee before enjoying a scenic loop south-west with views of Didcot before a short section on the well surfaced off-road Icknield Way and lunch in the lovely village of Ardington. There is an alternative route for those not wanting to ride off road which is a bit longer at 94k.

Ride report

Starting from Market Street to avoid the hardy souls running the Oxford half-marathon, 18 of us (which included a few picked up along the way) climbed out of Oxford towards Benson. We zig-zagged our way along autumnal country lanes with one rider commenting that she never knew there were so many back roads between Oxford and Chalgrove! After coffee at the welcoming and busy Waterfront Café , 5 of us departed for lunch at the Boar’s Head in Ardington, whence back to Oxford at a good pace and home for 4pm.
