Sunday ride to Benson and Checkendon

Sunday, 19 March 2023 - 9:30am

It’s Mother Day so we will take the opportunity to have lunch at the Black Horse in Checkendon. A place that no self-respecting child would take their mother to on this day.  Basic baguettes and chips. No Gluten free food. BYO if necessary.

Ride report

This was to be a traditional Mothers’ Day ride to the Black horse in Checkendon and I’d been looking forward to showing my partner Niall its eccentricities. Unfortunately we both weren’t feeling that good so I asked John S if he would take over the ride at Benson and lead to lunch. John happily agreed to this. Nine of us left Broad Street with Marion joining us at the top of Barracks Lane. Christine joined us even later at coffee. It was a nice morning with a bit of sun and no wind and we made good speed to Benson. The majority of us headed home after coffee by various routes leaving just 5 people to enjoy sausage baguettes and chips at the Black Horse indoors and then to return in the full sun.

The map is an embedded link from Ride with GPS. You can zoom in to see the route in as much detail as you like. For example, you can zoom in (using the + sign) to see exactly where the start is.
