A bike ride to the “scenic south” through villages on the outskirts of Didcot.

The map is an embedded link from Ride with GPS. You can zoom in to see the route in as much detail as you like. For example, you can zoom in (using the + sign) to see exactly where the start is. Ride report

Despite the forecast for near-zero temperatures, sixteen of us departed Oxford under clear blue skies for a beautiful if chilly ride out to Benson and Didcot. A couple of riders departed en route to coffee due to concerns about ice but Storm Arwen on Saturday had dried out the roads and fortunately there were only a few bits of ice along the road edges. After coffee, we followed slightly less familiar roads through Cholsey and Aston Upthorpe to the Horse & Harrow pub in West Hagbourne where eight of us enjoyed our delicious lunch outdoors and Phil joined us from Abingdon having “overslept”. We had a gentle ride back to Oxford, in part due to the ride leader unknowingly having a slow puncture! Our arrival back in Oxford was timed perfectly to coincide with a gentle flurry of snow but we all made it back home safe and sound. Thanks to everyone who braved the elements and came out for the ride.
