Sunday ride to Bicester and Marsh Gibbon
Sunday, 14 May 2017 - 9:30am
Ride or Event Navigation
Note change of start: Carfax instead of Broad Street, to avoid 10k race road closures
Coffee in Bicester and a sting in the tail after lunch: Brill (Muswell Hill) at 190m.
Ride report
Heavy rain on Saturday; rain again on Monday. Sunny all day on Sunday! No one wearing leggings and no one with overshoes: it seems that summer is definitely here. The route changed at the last minute when we discovered that the pub wasn’t serving food because of “oven problems”. The nearest pub was full and the next nearest pub meant a change of route to keep the coffee and lunch stops to sensible distances. With Google street view to check for cycle tracks on busy roads, OS maps to keep us legal and a Garmin to guide us in unfamiliar territory, no problem. Indeed, all that was required as we left the pub in Marsh Gibbon was an answer to the question “which way is north?” and the rest was plain sailing, taking Muswell Hill in our stride (see photo above).
