Sunday ride to Frilford and Uffington

Sunday, 22 September 2019 - 9:30am

Please book lunch before Friday 6pm

A ride through the Vale of White Horse, mostly mild undulation with a few hilly bits which will give us some nice views

Ride report

The last ride of summer saw the first notable rain for some time. With heavy rain forecast between coffee and lunch, there were 8 for lunch, and 1 riding as far as coffee. The rain held off as we crossed over Boars Hill on our way to coffee at Millets Farm. Just as we left coffee, the heavy rain started, though the temperature was still warm. The rain faded as we passed through West Challow and Childrey along the bottom of the Downs. We arrived spot on time at the Fox in Uffington for lunch, except for Anthony and Jon. Jon went back to help Anthony, for whom the puncture fairy had left a hole in the road which gave him a pinch puncture. Over lunch there was much discussion (and a bit of related on line shopping) about how to keep feet dry in the rain. After lunch we did a loop through Woolstone with its pretty houses, before heading back to Oxford through the Vale of White Horse with a good tail wind.
