Sunday ride to Long Crendon and Quainton

Sunday, 9 April 2023 - 9:30am

The Base coffee shop in Long Crendon will be open on Easter Sunday (one of few places as garden centres are not allowed to open) so we will head there and then onto the George and Dragon at Quainton for lunch.  We will get to Quainton via Waddesdon Park and we avoid going to the top of Brill on the way back, although it is an option for anyone who would like to.

Ride report

It was Easter Sunday for this ride which meant a lot of the usual cafés would be closed. The new one Sue found at Long Crendon was open though and so 7 of us headed off that way. Helen left us just before coffee as she had to get back so 6 of us carried on for the full ride. It was a very chilly start but the day turned out to be much sunnier than forecast and from about 11am the weather was beautiful. We found a small farmers market at the café in Long Crendon which allowed those with panniers to do their weekly shop! Then we carried on to the pub at Quainton via the cycle way through Waddesdon Estate. The ride home was into a bit of a headwind but the sunny afternoon meant there weren’t too many complaints.
