Sunday ride to Ramsden and Charlbury

Coffee is at Charlbury Garden Centre which used to be called Hill Top Garden Centre so the clue is in the old name.  There are a few undulations on the route but not enough for it to be officially classed as hilly.  Lunch will be at The Old Shed in Charlbury. Despite coffee and lunch sounding very close together there is a ride of 20 miles between the two..

Ride report

We had to meet on St Giles as the Oxford Town and Gown 10k run had closed Broad Street. A cool start to the day promised to warm up and eventually it did leading to a lovely sunny ride particularly after coffee. I had tried to book us in for lunch at the Old Shed but although they were happy to be warned we were turning up, they don’t take bookings. By the time we arrived, the queue was long and there were few tables left. So we decided to head down into Charlbury and bought provisions from the Co-op and the Sports Centre and had a picnic on the Playing Close just opposite the Co-op there. At this point I had to catch the train home as I had unfortunately pulled my calf but Jon volunteered to take over as ride leader and led the group home. Apparently they waved at my train as they went alongside it in Combe but I must have been looking the wrong way! It was a lovely day for the ride and the roads are lovely out that way, one to repeat I think.
