Sunday ride to Stratton Audley

Sunday, 5 December 2021 - 9:30am

A loop ride north around Bicester, conveniently avoiding the retail mayhem of Bicester itself. There is only 1 food stop at Stratton Audley, so you might want to bring a nibble with you.

Ride report

Another chilly Sunday saw us meeting in Broad Street. Although chilly not as cold as the previous week. Despite having moved from Brazil only 3 months ago, Adriano had equipped himself suitably to keep warm. Our route took us north via Kidlington and the Cherwell Valley to Upper Hayford and Somerton. We had a delay just before Somerton due to a puncture. A sub-committee of 3 saw a new tube fitted. We had a head wind all the way to Summerton, quite a relief when we turned right in Somerton, the pace picked up a bit. Despite the headwind, we arrived at lunch on time, meeting Miranda, Jon and Clare who had gone there direct. Lunch was just about warm enough; we had it in the marquee on the upwind side (so a healthy level of Covid preventing ventilation. After lunch we continued our clockwise loop around Bicester via Marsh Gibbon and Blackthorn and round the west side of Otmoor to Islip and into Oxford.
