Sunday ride to Thame and Chalgrove

Sunday, 14 July 2013 - 9:30am

Ride report

About the hottest day of the year, but cool enough once underway. A group of 13 set off for coffee, including 4 guests from Abingdon Freewheeling. It was one of those Sundays when every other encounter along the route seemed to be a cyclist. (See photos for an encounter of an unusual kind as we crossed University Parks). We were overtaken by several athletic ladies, flat backed and cruising at 30k +. Finally, one of our guests, Ross, could stand it no longer and set off in pursuit. He was closing fast at 50k+ when his quarry turned off. If you can keep up that speed for an hour, Ross, you could join a Tour de France “course contre la montre”.
