Note: early start 9am
Ride report
Apparently the warmest day since last September, perhaps a little too warm for the long climb up Kingston Hill (1 arrow on the ordnance survey map indicates somewhere between 14% and 20%). South of Kingston Blount, if you don’t know the climb and would like to give it a try. Then some interesting lanes around Northend, Stonor, Maidensgrove and Russell’s Water. As we draw closer to lunch, the highlight of the ride – Britwell Hill. The road sign warns of a 12.5% descent, but the map says more than 14%. Although it’s dead straight and not a car in sight, not many will be able to resist feathering the brakes from time to time. If you don’t, you will easily reach 80k – which is surely too fast for mere touring cyclists.
