Sunday ride to Waterperry and Chearsley
Sunday, 9 April 2017 - 9:30am
Ride or Event Navigation
There will be a short off-road section on the way home from lunch.
Time to go east, into the hills around Ashendon. Please note: after lunch, the ride back home contains a short (approx 1km) offroad section which is gravelly but in fairly good condition.
Ride report
The promised “warmest day of the year” didn’t disappoint. As long as we were moving, we were air-cooled, but the moment we stopped we began removing layers and reaching for the sun-cream. The prospect of the climb to Ashendon prompted a couple of riders to take a short cut. Wisely, if their climbing legs were unprepared, as this is one of the few climbs in our area that boasts a single arrow on the Ordnance Survey map. Our Garmins also recorded 14%, which is reassuring for the technologically-minded.
