Ride report
The leader gathered us together to explain his “plan”. We needed to get to coffee quickly (due EAST via Horspath) since the ride on to lunch was longer than usual and included the climb to Brill. We set off obediently and briskly. Puzzlement turned to bewilderment as we found ourselves travelling due NORTH, towards Marston. It’s not our place to question: the leader surely knows best. Only someone as experienced and senior as James could quietly suggest a “minor adjustment” to the route. All pretensions to leadership now extinguished, and back on track, we arrived predictably late for coffee. You might think that all went smoothly thereafter. Not so. Three punctures and a burst tyre later, Jo had to push her bike to a (fortunately) nearby pub while the leader, to make amends, volunteered to sprint the final 10 miles home to pick up his car. All’s well that ends well.
