Sunday ride to Weston-on-the-Green and Islip
Sunday, 22 December 2013 - 9:30am
Ride or Event Navigation
As this is almost the shortest and darkest day of the year, we have planned a short ride with lunch close to home 🙂
Ride report
Awful weather forecast with heavy rain all day. Who would turn up? When we set off only 3 riders had appeared to accompany the leader. But then 2 more joined en route and then a further 3 at coffee, making a respectable total of 9, all of whom went on to lunch at the carvery in Islip’s Red Lion, where huge amounts of food were piled onto some plates, topped with precariously balanced Yorkshire puddings. “How on earth are you going to ride home after eating that” said Graham as he headed off to the bar for his third pint of (“it’s only 3.4 percent”) Brakspear.
As for the weather, I expect some of our regulars who had stayed at home were kicking themselves as the day progressed, without a single drop of rain and brightened by continuous sunshine. Perfect riding weather.
