As 9.30 approached, the cluster of bicycles assembled in Broad Street continued to grow until 21 City riders + about a dozen more from Isis ladies set off for coffee. In Islip, there was some confusion about the route, which led to a small group detaching itself and taking a short cut to Weston on the Green. Quite handy, as it turned out, since The Milk Shed was full to overflowing and the queues were long. We were promised black clouds all day; in fact, it was sunny enough to enjoy ice-cream on the terrace.
Having lunch so close to home proved too tempting for some riders who couldn’t resist taking the most direct route back from Woodstock to Oxford.
