Sunday ride to Witney and Charlbury

Sunday, 1 December 2013 - 9:30am

Don't forget lights

Ride report

Fourteen at the start, one joined en route and another at the Bakehouse in Witney. Twelve went on to lunch in Charlbury. A special welcome to Adam and a nice surprise at coffee where we met Jenny who had moved away to Sheffield 18 months ago and just happened to be back visiting friends. Lots to catch up on. Whenever we cycle north of Witney, we love the secluded undulating lanes which criss-cross the foot of the Cotswolds. If only we could cross the river at Bablock Hythe! What a difference that would make riding north west from south Oxford. Apparently it would be too expensive to build a bridge – but this one I found in the Auvergne last summer doesn’t look as if it would cost a fortune (see last photo). No horses and no motorised vehicles it says on the sign – but perfect for cyclists.
