Sunday ride to Witney and Ramsden

Sunday, 28 May 2023 - 9:30am

A circuitous route to Cogges for coffee. Then a cycle north to lunch at Charlbury Garden Centre avoiding the Bank holiday crush in the pubs.

Ride report

Eleven gathered in Broad Street in the warm sunshine. We had a short delay in setting off as Sue, the ride leader, couldn’t get her Mio navigation system to work. It couldn’t get a GPS signal despite turning it off and on several times. Fortunately Sue knew the way to coffee and hoped the Mio would work after that. It didn’t and Jackie helpfully cycled alongside for the rest of the ride. The traffic was quieter than usual for a Sunday and we reached Charlbury Garden Centre at 1.15 to find they had almost no food. Three cheese and potato bakes were shared amongst several people topped up with cheese scones and crisps. It looked like there would be no lunch there for anyone on the Bank Holiday Monday! We continued riding along more quiet country lanes until we reached the A40 cycle path for the last stretch into Oxford.
