Sunday ride to Woodstock and Upper Heyford

Sunday, 29 March 2015 - 9:30am

Don't be late: clocks forward. Note updated lunch venue

Ride report

The forecast rain turned out to be little more than drizzle until the heavens opened at about 3pm with the kind of rain that has cars switch on their headlights and has rain pouring into the eyes of cyclists. Fortunately by that time we were almost home, having decided on a shortened route to an early lunch at the Barley Mow in Upper Heyford. Days in the saddle often shed light on the human condition: in this case, we learnt that naan bread, when served stretchy and elastic, is not easy to digest. We were also reminded that when 30mph winds threaten to blow you across the road, it is best to grip the handlebars at their widest point and sometimes forego the courtesy of a hand signal.
