Sunday ride with coffee/brunch in Woodstock
Sunday, 5 November 2023 - 9:30am
Ride or Event Navigation
Although this is only a half-day ride, please use the usual "lunch" booking form, as the leader will need to book the venue. Thank you.
Plenty of country lanes between Enslow (18k) and Woodstock (39K). And home in time for a latish lunch. Unless you prefer to have a brunch at the Buttery.
Ride report
A beautiful day with just a little rain which arrived conveniently as we enjoyed our paninis and all-day breakfasts in the Blenheim Buttery. But a problem at the start: Woodeaton road “Closed due to floods”. We were about to divert via Elsfield when a Tesco van appeared and, responding to our questioning looks, gave us a smile and a thumbs up. He was right – no sign of flooding. There were a few hills after Tackley and lovely tiny country lanes as we rode due west into a headwind before heading south towards our late refreshment stop in Woodstock. After a longer than planned stop, we made our various ways home via the A44 cycle path which, I’m told, is recently much improved.
Ah yes, the hands? Mending a puncture is usually dirty work with little to recommend it. But in this case, it was perfectly planned to ensure that we arrived at our lunch venue right on time.
