Waterperry and Brill spokes

Sunday, 28 July 2019 - 9:30am

Please book lunch before Friday 6pm if you are joining the picnic

A short ride to coffee, followed by 3 ascents of and 2 descents of Brill hills where we will have a picnic lunch before 2 descents and remaining ascent and return to Oxford – about 650m of ascent in just 50km. Picnic lunch will be provided (let ride leader know if any special dietary requirements). There will be a voluntary donation to a favourite charity at the picnic -Recycle Bikes to Africa.  Click here to find out more about the charity.

Ride report

A couple of firsts for our club. The first “first” was a picnic prepared by the leader and friends; the second “first” was a bike with 3 aboard. Unsurprisingly, the climb up Gidley Way was hard work – so hard that one passenger had to alight. The 4 “spokes” (Brill Hill, Muswell Hill, Tramhill and Thame Road) were more easily managed because of the intervening descents and flat sections which gave plenty of time for recovery. Thanks to the leader and friends for the picnic enjoyed at the top by the windmill and to our members for raising over £200 for the charity Bikes for Africa.
